Geometric Phase-Shift-Based Phase Modulation SLM Using Dual In-Plane Switching Liquid Crystal

In this paper, we propose a dual-panel configuration utilizing a commercial in-plane switching (IPS) liquid crystal panels. Phase modulation is achieved through two symmetrically-stacked IPS panels, exploiting geometric phase shift which enables expanded phase modulation range compared to dynamic phase shift in IPS configurations. Experimental results demonstrate that the dual-IPS panel configuration extends the phase modulation range from 25 to 180 degrees.
