Practical Electronic Noses Through Integration of Selective Semipermeable Membranes with Organic Field Effect Transistors

Description:

We present a simple and economical fabrication of electronic noses that mimic olfactory organs by emulating the sense of smell through quantification of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). We achieve this by integrating organic field-effect transistors with acylated polyvinyl alcohol derivatives as semipermeable polymer membranes for tunable selectivity to different VOCs.
