Organic Laser Indirectly Pumped by an Integrated OLED

Realizing direct electrical pumping of organic laser has been a longstanding challenge for several decades, due to low charge mobility in organic semiconductors and triplet excitons. We address this challenge using an indirect pumping approach, where OLED electroluminescence excites the gain medium to achieve population inversion. This method spatially separates charges and triplets from amplification regions, enabling an electrically driven laser while maintaining the advantages of direct electrically pumped lasers.
