AR Glasses with Single Microdisplay and Optics Based on Polarization Volume Hologram (PVH)

Description:

A new technique to design AR/VR display glasses with single imager for binocular vision is described to reduce the cost. An optical engine based on polarization volume hologram (PVH) lenses is introduced to reduce weight and volume. With specific optical characteristics of each PVH to diffract light beams at predefined via TIR in the embodiment, the design and simulation are proved to be achievable high optical efficiency at 50% up to 100% (double layers of PVH used) within glass or transparent plastic lens.
