Jean-Jacques Drolet is a Principal Expert Engineer and Key Expert at ams OSRAM in Regensburg, Germany. He offers strategic guidance to company leadership on display-related technology development and partnerships, recently with particular focus on microLEDs. Before joining ams OSRAM, he was a Senior Manager at Apple in California. Among other responsibilities, he evaluated emerging display technologies and advised management on their adoption as well as on related M&A and strategic partnerships. He also led the engineering of large-format Apple displays for iMac and Cinema Display products. Jean-Jacques was previously the Architect at MicroDisplay Corporation, working on many technological aspects of liquid-crystal-on-silicon (LCoS) display modules, projection systems and driving electronics. He received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology, where his research focused on holographic memory and neural-network systems using LCoS integrated circuits. His interests include display technologies, optoelectronic-system architecture and mixed-signal integrated circuit designs.
