Dr. Xiao Wei Sun is a Chair Professor and the Executive Dean of the Institute of Nanoscience and Applications in the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), Shenzhen, China. He holds the honorary doctorate (PhD) degree from the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics. He is the founding Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of SUSTech. Before joining Southern University of Science and Technology, he had been working at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore as a Full Professor. He was awarded the Nanyang Award for Research and Innovation in 2009, and the Jacques Beaulieu Excellence Research Chair of INRS (Institut national de la recherchescientifique), Quebec, Canada in 2013. He was awarded the Slottow-Owaki Prize from the Society for Information Display (SID) in 2023. He is an Academician of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Materials. He is the fellow of several academic societies including Optica (formerly OSA), SPIE, SID and Institute of Physics (IoP, UK). He is a Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE Nanotechnology Council. His main research is on wide bandgap semiconductors and semiconductor nanocrystals for power-saving high-quality displays and lighting. He is the founder of a quantum dot company Planck Innovation Pte. Ltd. in Shenzhen, which is now a key supplier of quantum dot films to some big brand TV manufacturers in China. Professor Sun has authored over 600 peer-reviewed journal publications, and delivered numerous invited talks. His H-index is 99 (Google Scholar). He is an Elsevier Highly Cited Scholar.
