Yuning Zhang is a full professor at the School of Electronic Science and Engineering and director of the Institute of Information Display and Visualization, Southeast University of China. Zhang has been engaged in research on display technology and visual perception for more than 20 years. He has received the Marie Curie Fellowship of the European Union (2009) and served as senior scientist at Philips Research (2009-2012). Zhang won the Gold Award of the Geneva International Inventions Exhibition (2021) and the SID China Display Innovation Outstanding Contribution Award (2024). He is a master inventor for polarization volume holography (PVG) optical waveguide display technology, which is recognized as one of the three major technical paths of diffractive optical waveguide display. Zhang’s group synthesizes PVG grating material, designs the optical system, and fabricates the PVG-based holographic waveguide, achieving trial production and product release.
