Dr. Hamid Reza Tohidypour received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in biomedical engineering from the Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT), Tehran, Iran, in 2007 and 2010, respectively, the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the AUT in 2010, and the PhD degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada in 2017. His PhD work led to two standard contributions for the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG). After finishing PhD, he worked in the medical device and computer vision industry for more than three years. In December 2019, he joined the digital multimedia laboratory (DML) of UBC to pursue his current research interests, which are intelligent multimedia systems and artificial intelligence for digital video. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow at DML working on numerous topics related to his current interest. His research interests also include display systems, display metrology, digital video processing and coding, computer vision, machine learning, deep learning, high dynamic range, human computer interaction, and biomedical engineering. He is the author or coauthor of more than 80 research publications and is the recipient of numerous awards.
