James Goel serves as a board member of VESA and MLCommons.org, and is the Chair of the MIPI Technical Steering Group. He is also a member of Canada's ISO 42 Artificial Intelligence mirror committee, actively shaping international AI standards. James chairs and leads multiple industry working groups focusing on wired display interfaces and AI safety and security standards.

He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, Canada, where he has practiced engineering for over 32 years. Throughout his distinguished career, James has specialized in semiconductor design and development of technical standards related to video, audio, connectivity interfaces, and artificial intelligence technologies, serving in both technical and senior management roles.

Currently, James is a Senior Director of Technical Standards with Qualcomm, where he has contributed significantly over the past 14 years since Qualcomm's acquisition of his previous company.
