Sergei Yakovenko, PhD, consultant. Received his M.S. in Optics from the Belarusian State University in 1980 and joined Institute of Applied Physics Problems as a Research Staff Member specializing in spectroscopy of liquid crystals. In 1985 he received his Ph.D. degree in Optics and in 1999 Dr. of Science from the Belarusian State University. The main field of activities was development of new electro-optic effects for liquid crystal displays and other electro-optic devices.
In 2000 joined LCOS Development at Philips Components, as a head of Cell and panel development group leading development of LCOS imagers for rear projection TV. Between 2004 and 2015 was engaged with several startups in design and manufacturing process development of various liquid crystal devices, e.g. LCOS panels and light engines, liquid crystal lenses and deflectors. In 2015 joined Apple to work on new display technologies. Since 2022 – consultant.
